Salina Merlo has always loved interior design and art. Viewers of her Instagram account, SalinaMariaHome, can see her appreciation for European architecture, traditional design, and organic textures. She aims for her style to make people feel welcome and loved, "like Sunday suppers at Nonna's!" We partnered with Salina on new interior door hardware and got a glimpse into her home and a peek at her lovely style.
Salina has slowly customized her home one room at a time. She notes, "One day, I would love to design a home from top to bottom." Still, for now, she is working with what she has, adding charming touches along the way, including our Carre Short plate and Eden Prairie Knob.
As soon as Salina saw the polished brass Eden Prairie knob knew she needed it in her home. She said, "It was the perfect vintage touch my home craved. I believe beauty is in the little details; seeing them in my home is everything. It's the first thing my guests always compliment!" Including painting all of the doors, it took Salina approximately one week to install all the door handles.
When asked if she would use our hardware again, she said, "ABSOLUTELY, yes! I am a forever fan of Grandeur and hope to enjoy your products throughout all the homes I design. Life is too short to not have pretty door handles!"
Salina likes to keep her style interesting by combining the old with the new and adding earthy and vintage pieces. She finds inspiration in nature and European architecture and design. When starting projects, she organizes and plans by setting a timeline for each stage and giving herself some breathing room in case of delays or changes.
Her tip for selecting a house is to pick one with good bones and lots of natural light. You can always change the look, but layout and light are the most important that typically can't be changed as easily. For those who wish to take on large remodeling projects, Salina recommends taking your time and working with a designer who understands your needs and wants. In closing, she noted, "Home takes time, money, and love! Create each space intentionally, and don't rush the process. Also, spread love and kindness always."
