Tuft & Trim is an interior design company founded by Courtney Davey. After graduating with an Interior design degree and working in the home building scene for several years, she decided to start her own design company to have more room for creativity. She began by creating a blog to showcase her personal home projects and decorating inspiration and also now shares client home designs. Her style reflects French and European influence while staying traditional, which tends to lean towards the "grand millennial" look.
Courtney always updates her home with minor changes to give it new life. The interior can transform into a bright and welcoming space by painting all the walls, trims, and doors. Elegant and romantic details are a common thread throughout her spaces, setting them apart from most trends that come and go.
In a recent home door hardware update, Courtney chose pieces from our Carre Collection because of its classic and timeless design. When picking out hardware, she tried to find styles one would find on an antique door, but with a fresh new look. Courtney stated, "I love the vintage gold tone and the elegant crystal details; they truly add so much character to our home." The door hardware was the finishing touch that pulled all the spaces together.
She added a mix of Eden Prairie and Biarritz Crystal knobs throughout her home to add a cohesive yet custom look for each space. By doing this, Courtney learned how to mix door hardware. She was always hesitant to mix looks but now loves how showing a variety of styles within the same Carre collection makes for a more exciting home.
Courtney loves looking at other designers' work in books, magazines, and social media to find inspiration. She takes notes on what she loves about their spaces and tries to incorporate them into her own. Floral fabrics, paint colors, and art are also things that inspire her and are often the starting points for new projects.
As far as tips for readers who wish to transform their home, Courtney suggests making sure you have a style in mind. She notes, "Look around online, in magazines, whatever it takes to pinpoint what exact style you are drawn to. I believe that is the best way to start any home transformation."
Thanks to Courtney for sharing her elegant home with us!
