Please give us some more details on My Four Sons. How did you develop it, and what sets it apart?

My Four Sons started after the birth of our third son. I started getting more engagement on my posts, and a couple of small brands reached out to me to promote their products because they liked my photography style. I grew from there!

What is the story behind your current home?

During the spring of 2022, we decided it was time to sell our home and build our forever home. It was the biggest project I've ever taken on, but I have a passion for interior design and always have a lot of fun with it. I find my kids' rooms the most challenging to design because it's hard to find a plan we both love that will be practical with how they play.

I wanted to build a house with high ceilings in the main living area and a primary bedroom on the main level. We wanted the home to suit us in old age in case we never moved again. We spoke to an architect about everything we hoped to have included, and he worked his magic. I was so happy with the end result.

How did you choose Grandeur Hardware?

I have a passion for antiques and transitional design. I knew I wanted hardware that would blend in with the home's aesthetic, giving that wow factor. I saw an ad for Grandeur on Instagram and knew I needed to have this hardware in our home.

How long did this project take to complete?

We broke ground in September 2022, and we were able to move in at the end of April. While it was challenging for our family of six since we had to make four moves in between, it was all worth it the day we finally entered our forever home.

Will you use this hardware again in other projects/areas of your home?

We used the hardware on the main level and went for a straightforward style upstairs where our boys' bedrooms are to keep things budget-friendly. I would love to update those knobs down the road. The great thing about living in your forever home is that you have years to complete everything, and there are always more projects to look forward to.

Did you learn any tips and tricks about door hardware that would benefit others?

We were fortunate to have a contractor who installed our hardware for us. Still, I highly encourage you to speak to the knowledgeable staff at Grandeur Hardware before placing your order. This way, you can get the correct sizes and styles to suit your project.

What is your design style, and how do you incorporate those decorating decisions within your home?

My design style is very mixed. I love antique furniture and books and mixing old with new, so transitional design speaks to my soul. I love cozy spaces and mixing wood tones and floral patterns. I also gravitate towards cottagecore.

Where do you find design inspiration?

I find my inspiration everywhere. I love browsing thrift shops and finding an object to build a room around. I also read interior design books and scroll endlessly online.

When starting a project, how do you organize and plan for it?

Usually, I find one object or idea and build the whole project around it. For example, I found the perfect antique hutch on Facebook Marketplace when planning our grand room. The wood tones and the feel of the room were then designed around this piece.

Many people want to take on large remodeling projects. What are some recommendations for readers who wish to do an extensive remodel project?

My advice would be to budget higher than you think the final cost will be and to have patience when things don't always go right. Things can get stressful in the middle of a renovation or build, and it's sometimes hard to remember there's always a solution.

What are some tips for readers who wish to make a transformation in their home?

Don't worry so much about what everyone else thinks- this is your home, and you should do what you love, regardless of what others think. You don't need to choose a trending design or finish if it's different from what you love. Ultimately, you're living in your space and have to feel at home.

Are you working on any other properties or projects besides your own home?

I'm in the process of starting an online e-design business so I can design spaces for others! I love designing and shopping and have had people approach me for help, so I figured, why not? I teach full-time from September to June, so I will only take on a limited amount of clients, intending to take a few more during the summer months.

What is next?

I love our home, but I'm constantly changing things up! The boys' bedrooms still need to be decorated, so I'm working on those. I would also love to add wallpaper to a few of the smaller spaces in our home to warm things up.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I feel so blessed to have been given the chance to work with Grandeur Hardware! We've had so many compliments when people come to visit. The door hardware completes our space.
